ServiceNow Engineer

Date: 14 Oct 2026

Location: Sydney, New South Wales, AU, 2000

Company: Atturra

What you’ll be doing

Atturra is seeking a practical and motivated ServiceNow Engineer to join our Enterprise Application Services team.

You will work across multiple customer environments, helping configure, enhance and maintain ServiceNow solutions that support important business and service-management processes. The position combines hands-on platform engineering with technical problem-solving, giving you exposure to different customers, ServiceNow environments and business requirements.

This is a junior-to-mid-level opportunity. You may be an early-career ServiceNow professional ready to deepen your engineering capability, or a developing engineer who can already take ownership of well-defined platform changes and technical investigations.

You will work alongside experienced engineers and other specialists, with support available when issues require more advanced development, integration or architecture expertise.

Responsibilities:

  • Configure and enhance ServiceNow solutions in line with customer requirements and platform best practices.
  • Build and maintain forms, fields, tables, notifications, UI Policies, workflows and flows.
  • Develop well-defined platform changes using capabilities such as Business Rules, Client Scripts, Script Includes and JavaScript.
  • Use Flow Designer and other platform-native capabilities to improve and automate customer processes.
  • Triage and investigate technical problems across customer ServiceNow environments, resolving issues within your capability and collaborating with senior engineers or other specialists when required.
  • Analyse defects and recurring platform issues, clearly document your findings and contribute practical, maintainable fixes.
  • Deliver approved minor enhancements and configuration changes across multiple customer environments.
  • Assist with integrations, data imports and related technical activities under appropriate guidance.
  • Support testing, release validation, upgrades, patching and post-release checks.
  • Produce clear technical documentation, implementation notes, knowledge articles and customer-facing work updates.
  • Participate in code reviews and apply agreed engineering, security and quality standards.
  • Contribute to backlog refinement, planning, demonstrations and other team delivery activities.
  • Work collaboratively with customers, engineers, developers, consultants and technical specialists.
  • Continue building your ServiceNow capability through practical experience, formal learning and certification.

What will make you successful in this role?

Essential:

  • Practical experience working with the ServiceNow platform.
  • Experience configuring or developing ServiceNow features such as forms, workflows, flows, UI Policies, Business Rules or Client Scripts.
  • A working knowledge of JavaScript and an interest in developing stronger software-engineering capability.
  • A basic understanding of ServiceNow tables, data relationships and platform configuration.
  • The ability to investigate technical issues logically, identify likely causes and clearly document your findings.
  • A customer-focused approach and the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Good organisation skills and the ability to manage work across multiple customer environments.
  • A collaborative approach, including a willingness to seek guidance, share knowledge and respond constructively to feedback.
  • A commitment to producing reliable, secure and maintainable work.
  • Current study towards the ServiceNow Certified System Administrator certification.
  • Australian citizenship.
  • An existing Australian Government NV1 security clearance or higher.
  • The ability to work from an Atturra office at least two days per week.

Highly Preferred:

  • Current ServiceNow Certified System Administrator certification.

Preferred:

  • Java development experience.
  • An ITIL certification, such as ITIL 4 Foundation.
  • Experience with Flow Designer, Script Includes, ACLs, REST APIs, Integration Hub or ServiceNow data imports.
  • Experience working with ITSM processes or within an application managed-services environment.
  • Exposure to Agile or iterative delivery methods.
  • ServiceNow Certified Application Developer certification, relevant ServiceNow micro-certifications, or progress towards further platform credentials.

Java experience is treated as complementary engineering capability rather than a primary ServiceNow development requirement. Existing Atturra role material similarly identifies Java development, CSA and ITIL 4 Foundation as valuable supporting qualifications.

How the level will work:

The role can accommodate candidates across the junior-to-mid-level range:

  • At the junior end, you will deliver clearly defined configuration, development and investigation activities with guidance from experienced team members.
  • At the mid-level end, you will take greater ownership of assigned enhancements and technical issues, work more independently and identify when specialist involvement is required.

You will not be expected to independently own complex architecture, major integrations or extensive custom development before you are ready. These activities will be completed collaboratively with senior engineers, developers or architects.

Why Join EAS?

  • Work across multiple customer ServiceNow environments rather than being limited to a single platform.
  • Build experience across platform configuration, development, technical investigation and customer delivery.
  • Learn from experienced ServiceNow engineers and specialists.
  • Develop a pathway towards broader ServiceNow Developer, Technical Consultant or engineering responsibilities.
  • Continue building your capability through practical delivery, knowledge sharing and ServiceNow certification.
  • Work flexibly while remaining connected to the EAS team through a minimum of two days each week in an Atturra office.

Eligibility and work arrangements:

Applicants MUST:

  • Be located in Australia.
  • Be Australian citizens.
  • Hold an existing Australian Government NV1 security clearance or higher.
  • Be able to participate in onshore customer delivery.
  • Attend an Atturra office at least two days per week as part of the flexible work arrangement.

Customer or engagement requirements may occasionally require additional office or customer-site attendance.
