What you’ll be doing

We are seeking a Solution Architect to work within our project team for a key client in the resources sector. You will be responsible for defining target state and roadmap for our ICT infrastructure capabilities and guiding the realization of that vision through solution architecture and design, while ensuring consistency with domain and group architecture strategy, standards and goals. This role will be predominantly office-based project work in Brisbane, with possible occasional interstate travel. Typical tasks may include:

•    Working to a customer-defined solution brief, develop target state architectures, high-level and low-level designs for ICT infrastructure projects across network (WAN, LAN, WiFi, security), communications (radio, cellular, wireless), and data centre (compute, storage) infrastructure.  
•    Develop roadmap and migration plans to inform project tasks and provide guidance around business impacts of proposed technological initiatives.   
•    Ensure commercial focus on all architecture and scoping work to guarantee the desired business outcomes are met in a cost-effective way. 
•    Balance the need for consistent and accurate enterprise architecture with the need for rapid delivery in an Agile environment. 
•    Maintain a thorough understanding of business and technological capabilities and initiatives within the designated domain, and their relationship to the wider group and technological strategies and goals. 
•    Provide technical guidance to Project Managers, IT Managers and Business representatives. 
•    Offer mentoring and guidance to solution architects, technical specialists, application system specialists, business & system analysts. 
•    Build and retain strong relationships with the customer, strategic vendors and partners.

What will make you successful in this role? 

•    Strong technical background, with demonstrated experience as a solution architect, or enterprise architect working across large enterprise customers.  
•    Experience as the technical design authority, leading solution design across multiple technology domains for complex environments. 
•    Familiarity with Agile & Lean methodologies, proficient stakeholder management, negotiation and leadership skills. 
•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail. 
•    Tertiary qualifications in information technology or related discipline 
•    TOGAF certification preferred. 
•    Innovation mindset, ability to think laterally, and a focus on excellent customer service. 
•    Maintaining a high degree of professionalism and accuracy to ensure deliverables are completed to a high quality within the specified time constraints. 

 

These additional skills and experience are an advantage: 
•    Mining or similar heavy industrial experience 
•    Radio / fixed wireless / LTE / 5G  
•    Exposure to applications stacks and automation 
•    Familiarity with IoT and OT technologies 
•    Experience in outsourced delivery environments
