What you’ll be doing

The role of the Business Analyst is to undertake business and technical analysis, business process improvement, relationship management and scoping and estimating activities for relevant and assigned projects.  

Business analysis 
•    Investigate operational requirements, problems and opportunities, seeking effective business solutions through improvements in automated and non-automated components of new or changed processes to achieve fit for purpose solutions.
•    Collaborate with stakeholders to identify potential benefits and available options for consideration and in defining acceptance tests. 
•    Analyse requirements to solve client problems and provide solutions.    
•    Document outputs of workshops/requirement gathering sessions.   
•    Undertake stakeholder engagement to elicit business requirements related to the project.

Business process improvement
•    Analyse and design business processes. 
•    Strong process improvement background
•    Develop graphical representations of business processes to facilitate understanding and decision making to achieve fit for purpose solutions and accurate estimations. 
•    Assess the feasibility of business process changes and recommend new approaches. 

Relationship management 
•    Facilitate open communication and discussion between stakeholders to ensure collaboration in requirements gathering, solution definition and related estimates. 
•    Facilitate business decision-making processes. 
•    Capture, record and disseminate technical and business information. 

Scoping and Estimating 
•    Define scope and business priority-setting for change initiatives of small and medium size and complexity and assist in larger scale scoping exercises. 
•    Elicit and analyse requirements for fitness for purpose as well as adherence to business objectives and consistency, challenge positively as appropriate. 
•    Produce reliable cost estimates for the resources (labour, materials, equipment and services) required to complete change initiatives based on scope, requirements, risk and complexity. 
•    Seek and obtain formal stakeholder agreement to scope, requirements and budget. 

Administrative duties
•    Administrative duties as needed.

Processes, Procedures and Tools

The Business Analyst must:
•    Develop a high level of familiarity with processes and procedures and where appropriate contribute to process and procedure improvement.

Working conditions
•    Based in Brisbane, Queensland
•    Permanent full time
•    Hybrid with occasional travel to client operational sites

Safety
•    Operate as a HSE focused team leader to project teams and colleagues
•    Participate in the client safety programmes; and
•    Instil a safety culture in the workplace and with vendors through influence and behaviour

 

Mandatory Compliance 

•    The Business Analyst must be familiar with and comply with all applicable policies and safety requirements.

•    BABOK Lean Six Sigma 
•    Must have effective written and verbal communication skills, with both technical and non-technical audiences.
•    Ability to effectively recognise and adapt to change.
•    Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
•    High level of enthusiasm, a strong work ethic, and highly self-motivated
•    Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with a wide range of individuals in a diverse community.
•    Work effectively in a fast-paced team environment 
•    Workshop facilitation

Desirable
•    Technical/system analysis
•    Experience in Scrum Teams
