What you'll be doing
The Infrastructure Consultant (DSOC) provides expertise across infrastructure platforms that support Digital Security Operations Centre (DSOC) capabilities. The role focuses on engineering, maintaining, and optimising infrastructure components that enable security monitoring, threat detection, incident response, and operational stability. The consultant works closely with security operations, platform engineering, cloud, and network teams to ensure the DSOC environment is secure, resilient, scalable, and aligned with organisational standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain infrastructure components that support DSOC platforms and security tooling.
- Provide high‑level technical support for DSOC systems including servers, storage, networks, cloud workloads, and integrated platforms.
- Support platform engineering initiatives including automation, infrastructure‑as‑code, and environment modernisation.
- Maintain high availability, performance, and resilience across DSOC‑related infrastructure environments.
- Collaborate with security operations teams to enable log ingestion, alerting, analytics, and threat detection capabilities.
- Lead and support incident, problem, and change management processes in alignment with ITIL frameworks.
- Conduct advanced troubleshooting for infrastructure and platform issues impacting DSOC operations.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation including architecture diagrams, build guides, procedures, and operational runbooks.
- Participate in infrastructure upgrades, patching, lifecycle management, and capacity planning activities.
- Implement and maintain security controls across DSOC systems including hardening, monitoring, and access management.
- Contribute to integration activities between DSOC platforms, cloud environments, and enterprise systems.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and operational staff.
- Support audit, compliance, and governance obligations across DSOC infrastructure environments.

What will make you successful in this role?
Required Professional and Technical Expertise:
- Demonstrated experience in infrastructure engineering or operations roles supporting security or monitoring platforms.
- Strong understanding of servers, storage, network, virtualisation, operating systems, and cloud environments.
- Experience supporting or integrating SIEM, SOAR, EDR, or other security operations technologies.
- Familiarity with automation, scripting, and infrastructure‑as‑code tools such as Python, Bash, PowerShell, Ansible, or Terraform.
- Experience troubleshooting complex platform and infrastructure issues in enterprise environments.
- Strong understanding of ITIL processes including incident, problem, and change management.
- Ability to produce high‑quality technical documentation and operational procedures.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills across technical and non‑technical teams.
- Proven experience working in enterprise, government, or regulated operational environments.
Desirable Skills
- Certifications in Microsoft, Linux, VMware, AWS, Azure, or security technologies.
- Experience working in or supporting SOC or DSOC environments.
- Knowledge of logging, monitoring, and observability platforms.
- Experience with platform automation, DevOps, or cloud security engineering.
- Exposure to government, defence, or critical infrastructure environments.
